CollegeAstra.com is a college discovery platform for students and parents comparing institutes across Maharashtra — by city, course, entrance exam, fees, specialisation, and college type.

Fundaking owned the full product build:

Frontend — search, filters, college detail pages, and city landing pages so users can narrow thousands of options without hitting dead ends.
Backend — database schema, APIs, and admin-ready records so filters and SEO pages all read from one source of truth.

Data is the product. We paired that platform with an AI agent that finds college information on the open web, normalizes it, and writes rows directly into the database — so the catalogue could reach state-wide scale without a manual data-entry team.

Challenges

Data volume. Maharashtra has thousands of colleges, campuses, courses, and intake rules. A discovery site only helps if coverage is broad. Hand-researching even a few hundred profiles is slow; 6,000+ institutions is impossible to maintain with spreadsheets and copy-paste.

Collection at scale. College names, addresses, exam links, and fee hints live on different sites and formats. Sources conflict, fields are incomplete, and listings go stale. Without an automated pipeline, you either launch thin or spend months cleaning rows before students see value.
